Hiring agencies that allow Resumix applications may ask that you cover only specific points, so your completed resume may end up being rather short. However, in those cases, the agency will also give you a supplemental data sheet with a list of questions to be submitted as a separate document. The supplemental data sheet solicits additional information, such as your lowest acceptable pay grade, willingness to accept temporary or part-time work, military experience, and so on.
Other Electronic Resumes
Army
Civilian vacancies with the U.S. Army are posted on both USAJOBS and the Army Employment Web site at http://acpol.army.mil/employment/apply_jobs.htm. If you are interested in applying for a civilian position in the U.S. Army, you will be asked to use the Armyâs Resume Builder. At the beginning of your job search, you can create and store a resume through the Armyâs Resume Builder. Your resume may be updated at any time and used to apply for future vacancies of interest. Although the U.S. Army prefers electronic application submissions, they will also accept Federal Resumes by e-mail or regular mailâthe job vacancies will provide further details regarding how to send your resume and to whom. If you decide to apply with a traditional resume, however, you need to follow the instructions provided in the Army Job Application kit (found at http://cpol.army.mil/library/employment/jobkit/) such as formatting your resume to the exact specifications of the Armyâs Resume Builder.
Air Force
In September 2007, the U.S. Air Force completely revised its hiring process and began a new automated recruitment process. All Air Force jobs are now posted exclusively to the OPMâs USAJOBS Web site at www.usajobs.gov. Applicants can both search for and apply to positions of interest through USAJOBS, and they may create and store up to five resumes, allowing for multiple submissions.
If you would like to apply for a U.S. Air Force vacancy listed on USAJOBS, simply click on the âApply Onlineâ button at the bottom of the page. You will be directed to a field that allows you to choose your preferred resume format to apply for a specific vacancy. Finally, the browser will take you to the Application Manager in order to complete further bibliographic information, answer the Online Questionnaire (assessment questions related to the job announcement), upload any other requested documents, and submit your application.
Although the U.S. Air Force encourages online submissions for vacant positions, they do offer another application method for those who, for some reason, cannot apply using the USAJOBS Web site. In this case, an applicant can fax his or her resume along with a copy of OPM Form 1203-FX (which replaces the Online Questionnaire) and any other supporting documents to 1-478-757-3144. Each job announcement with the U.S. Air Force will contain a âHow to Applyâ section, so be sure to review it carefully for any further application instructions.
Navy
The U.S. Department of Navy has its own application system called CHART, an acronym for Civilian Hiring And Recruitment Tool. CHART (https://chart.donhr.navy.mil/index.asp) offers those interested in a position with the Department of Navy a job search
