The reservoir fluids phase behavior can alter in the confined space of the shale nanopores because of the change in critical properties like pressure and temperature. Owing to the shale formation complex features and the limitations associated with them it is difficult to explore the phase behavior of shale nanopores through experimental studies. Therefore, several simulation studies have attributed the effect of pore confinement on phase behavior and fluid properties to capillary pressure [64,65]. The results indicated that if the pores are in the nanoscale region, then the capillary pressure becomes significant (Fig. 6.17A).
