“Excuse me, Lady Liberty,” I asked quietly.

“How did you know some kids in school

were making fun of my family?

“What did you tell them?”

the green giant asked softly.

“Well, I said that Daddy and Papa love each other very much and they want to get married.”

“But,” I added sadly,

“they are not allowed to.”

“It’s not fair,” I said. “Daddy and Papa love each other. We want to have a great big wedding.

I want to wear my special dress and

bake our favorite cake.

Why won’t they let Daddy and Papa get married?

It’s just not fair.”
