Sophia
The shopping spree for herself earlier in the day was nothing compared to what she did for Daisy at the pet store. The back of the Escalade overflowed with bags when they finally pulled up to the front door of the estate.
âDidnât you say you really didnât like to shop?â Alejandro grumbled as he tried to organize the bag handles while he took them out of the back and handed them to her. Holding the end of Daisyâs leash in one hand meant she only had one free hand.
âI think Iâm going to have to make a few tripsâ¦â she conceded with a giggle.
Sophia felt him before his hands stroked both her arms up and down, so she didnât jump at this touch.
âI can help,â Ramon offered before kissing her cheek.
âThat would be great,â she sighed.
He knelt down and rubbed Daisyâs neck, talking sweetly to the pup as he did.
âLook at you. You look like a brand-new dog! Are you going to be a spoiled girl here?â He looked up at the bags with the different store labels in Sophia and Alejandroâs hands. âI think you and your mommy are going to be spoiled here.â
âIâll pay you back,â she said defensively.
âSophiaâ¦â There was a warning in his tone. âWeâll talk about this at dinner.â He stood and looked at his watch. âWhich is going to be in about forty minutes, so you should probably get Daisy settled.â
âI need to take her to go to the bathroom before going inside.â
He took the bags from her hand and gestured to the grounds. âYouâll have to talk to Jorge tomorrow about where you want to put a dog run.â
A dog run. It was funny how something so insignificant carried so much meaning.
Sheâd been thinking on the car ride back about where they could put in a doggie door and dog run and what that meant. Itâd be put in here. At the Ensenada estate. Then she wondered what it was going to be like going back and forth between Mexico and San Diego and how Daisy would do in a helicopter.
Sophia knew that she wanted to be Mrs. Ramon Guzmanâin every sense.
Alejandroâs confirmation of Ramonâs story that what she saw in the bar wasnât what she thought had helped her open that door. Then when Ramon helped her today with Daisy, no questions asked and not batting an eye about Sophia bringing a dog to the estate without even consulting with him first⦠well, that sealed the deal.
If he still wanted her.
It seemed like he did. Heâd called her âmy loveâ in Spanish when he arrived to help her with animal control. And when he told her she needed to decide if she wanted to be his wife or not, he sort of implied he wanted her to be.
Sophia watched the gorgeous man laughing with Alejandro as they wrangled bags upon bags, along with numerous dog beds from the rear of the Cadillac. His smile was so sexy, his presence so commanding. She was in awe when she said in her head, âThatâs my husband.
