Chapter 23

Gino decided to put his plan in play. He believed that the dogs had been softened up enough to trust him, and he knew that by the time he got his leftovers from the restaurant, it would be nightfall and the darkness would aid his escape. Moreover, he sensed that his time was running out, and he was right..

Diego had stopped by earlier that day and told Ryan and Andrés that Lucho wanted the prisoner made into fish food in the morning. In Lucho’s warped mind, Gino was an impediment to getting Lisa’s affection and, he felt that once Gino had been removed from the equation, she would be all his until she also met with the chum grinder and the flounder pools.

Ryan delivered the evening’s food after the restaurant had closed. Fried flounder, corn-on-the-cob, boiled shrimp, two large pieces of broiled tuna, and some Italian bread. Andrés joined him and the dog trainer performed his duty of taking the dogs on their nightly romp around the farm.

Ryan seemed giddier and more excited than usual. Gino became more convinced that something was brewing and that he had to escape that night.

“So, Mr. Bigshot Gino, you sure look like you could use a bath. Tell you what, tomorrow we’ll let you spend some time in the water,” Ryan said, laughing, snorting, and wiping snot away from his nose.

“No problem, Ryan, but why don’t you invite your mom so she can watch me wash my ass while she sucks your cock, “Gino said, nodding and smiling.

Instead of flipping out as he had in the past, Ryan stared at Gino for a full 20 seconds, and his furrowed brow twitched.

“You’re gonna’ get yours, you fucking asshole. I can’t wait to watch. I just can’t wait to watch it happen,” Ryan said, rubbing his hands together.

The dogs returned and assumed their guard position, actually waiting for the food that they knew Gino had stashed for them. Ryan and Andrés departed from the barn and Gino listened as their cars pulled away from the farm. He knew that there were only two guards remaining to watch the premises and to check in on him.

The dogs waited for Gino to give them their evening treat, and they gathered at the pen door. Gino let them into the cage one by one until it had become full with the four dogs and him. He started to feed then supper by hand while making his way to the open pen door. While giving the dogs the last of the tuna, he slid himself outside the pen, slowly closed the door, and latched it from the outside as they devoured the last few bites. The hounds were now safe and sound in the pen and no longer Gino’s sentinels. Interestingly, they didn’t even bark or make a fuss, as they had become accustomed to being in a pen with humans on the other side. Relieved that no barking alarm had sounded to alert the guards, Gino made his way to the barn’s back door.
