I suggested that Billy begin receiving private speech therapy even though his vocabulary was age appropriate. Wood children tend to rely on nonverbal (physical) expression rather than using their words. Fire corresponds to verbal expression. This gave Billy a more effective outlet for his frustration rather than the Neanderthal grunts and shouts his parents so often heard. Language has the power to regulate wild puppy behavior. The speech therapist began labeling his emotional states so that he became more aware of other options of expression open to him when he was insecure. With this came a more advanced way of exchanging ideas with others, and Billy began to feel less misunderstood.
