JACK

I’m sure that when I asked Sophie on a date, she probably thought we’d at least be heading back into town. Instead, her face drops as I push aside one of the doors leading inside the manor that the studio rented out for the night. “Why don’t you take a look around?” I ask. “I’ll be right back.”

‘Uh huh,” she mutters, lost in her thoughts and trailing a delicate hand along the spiral staircase that heads up to the second floor. I probably could’ve told her I’m Bigfoot and she’d have still given the same response. And I don’t blame her; this place is something else, alright.

I stroll through into the dining room, where the table has already been made up for the crew. One of the runners, a young guy bursts out of an adjoining room, ferrying cutlery out to the table. “Hey, I’ve got a favor to ask.”

He stops dead when he sees me. “Certainly, Mr. Cavendish.” I fill the kid in on my plan, directing him to the terrace attached to my room upstairs, and before I know it, he’s running back into the other room.

Heading out into the foyer, I locate Sophie, who’s admiring a huge painting stuck on one of the walls opposite the entrance. A vast chandelier teeters above our heads, and dark oak furnishings are dotted sporadically throughout the hall, corridors veering off in every direction.

It’s a hell of a place. It’s got heaps of country charm, something that’s severely lacking in my city apartments. And honestly, it’s just another thing that reminds me of my childhood back in England. Another thing that makes me long for a life that doesn’t involve flying back and forth between cities with no time to breathe.

But right now, I’ve only got eyes for the most beautiful masterpiece in this space. With her back to me, I take a moment to absorb Sophie’s figure. She really did dress perfectly for today. The way that her dress hugs her round ass and curvy hips just sets off a reaction in my boxer briefs like no other. I tug again at the fabric holding me prisoner. I can’t wait to tear this thing off as soon as possible.

And that dress, while I’m at it.

“Shall we?” I say, holding an arm out. Sophie spins around, her dress carrying with her, then hurries over to link my arm.

“We shall, lead the way.”

She’s too cute.

Though, I can tell that there’s a lot of anxiety still bubbling under the surface. Her breasts heave under rapid breaths, snatching my attention as we climb the stairs. But I don’t want her feeling nervous around me; I want her to relax, to feel completely at ease when she’s with me.

I’m sure I can find a way to make that happen.
