Chapter Seven

Sandra’s POV

I make my way to the local gas station, not sure why I was sent to get these tests, but I am pretty excited. I mean, I have no idea what it means for Dash and his career, but this sounds like an adventure.

I grab a few different types of tests and just fill my arms up with them. I look between the two cashiers at the checkout and grin. An older lady gives me a knowing look and just nods. I go to her lane and gently toss the tests onto the conveyor belt.

I frame my excitement with, “These aren’t for me.”

She just smiles as she shakes her head. “No need to explain, deary. Do you really need this many?”

I shrug. “I guess what we don’t use now we can set aside for later?”

The casher gives me a worried look. “You aren’t going to eat them, the things inside, are you?” I give her a weird look and shake my head as she sighs. “Thank goodness. Some kids are out there eating the tablets inside like they are birth control or something.”

She checks the last test through the scanner as my total shows up in front of me. At least I kept it under a hundred... I pay with the cash I have in my wallet then head over to the door. “Thanks, and don’t worry we won’t eat them, I promise.”

I get to my car and drive back over to Gerra’s apartment. When I get in, I can hear the two of them lost in a serious conversation. Sandra is surprised by the amount of tests I got. She grabs one of the packs and looks me in the eyes.

Dash and I wait outside the bathroom in the bedroom while she pees in a cup. When she tells Dash to go and dip the tests I just giggle. He gets up and does as she said as she lays next to me on the bed.

Pulling me down with her she kisses my lips. “I don’t know if I’m ready for this, Sandra.”

I meet her eyes and giggle. “Well, I don’t think we have a choice. It is what it is.”

She holds me close as we wait for Dash to get the tests dipped and time them. What feels like hours later we hear a noise that could only mean happiness. And that could mean anything.

Well, it means anything until Dash comes out with two tests. One that says the word ‘pregnant’ on it, and one that has two lines. I look over at Gerra to see her reaction. She looks like she is shell shocked.

Dash kneels in front of her and takes her hands in his. “We are gonna be parents, Gerra.”

Gerra snaps out of her shock and meets his eyes. “I think I’m gonna be sick.”

Dash gets up and helps her to the bathroom while I just sit on the bed. I roll over to the other side of the bed, my back facing the bathroom.
