Chapter 10

"What do you think?" She turned around to show him the full effect of the pants suit she had decided to wear for the gallery opening. Ever since she had made her decision that they would be sharing the same bedroom, things had been tentative between them. He did not call her during the day when he was out, but she never allowed it to bother her. They had dinner together and on Thursday he had announced that they were going out to dinner. He made love to her each night with a frenzied and restless passion that made her blood run hot and she would end up clinging and calling out his name in the throes of passion. She had not declared her love for him yet and had decided to wait.

"It suits you," he told her with equanimity. He was still not comfortable giving her compliments. The only time he allowed his guard to drop was when he was making love to her and during that time, he could not control his emotions - the cool mask he had encased himself in would disintegrate like puffs of smoke. his body would shudder and get away from him and he would call out her name as he poured himself deep into her. But apart from that, he held his aloofness like a protective shield in front of him. Being with her in the same room was hard for him and watching her dress was something he could hardly endure.

Her finely arched brows lifted as she waited for more.

"What do you call that color?" He asked as he knotted the tie around his throat.

"Here, let me." Moving towards him, she pushed away his hands and effortlessly knotted the bow tie. "It's Chartreuse. A kind of green or yellow color." She explained.

"I see," he stood still while she finished and felt himself responding to her nearness with predictable familiarity. Her scent, the perfume a musky and alluring one, assailed his nostrils and he had the insane urge to seize her lips coated in cranberry, in a kiss. Clearing his throat, he tried to step back, but she reached up to brush the material of his slate gray jacket.

"You look very handsome. I am probably going to have to beat the females off with a very big stick."

"I was thinking the same thing." He told her hoarsely. He was not used to this teasing side of her and he had no idea how to react. She was behaving like a proper wife and it unnerved him.

Her dark brown eyes twinkled teasingly. "You are going to have to beat the females off with a big stick?"

"The males," his hands cupped her face, the yearning inside him getting out of control. "We should get going."

"We should," she agreed, staying where she was.

"We will be late."

"Hmm," she reached up and slid the shoulders of the top off, revealing the flesh-colored lace bra that showed her nipples.

"What are you doing?"

"I think we have time for a quickie.
