although spirits like to let us know they are aware of what is going on in our lives, frequency beacons are a two-way street. Evidential mediumship requires that the medium convey pieces of information communicated by a spirit that can then be verified by the client. This requires the client to listen to what is presented and then let the medium know whether the information presented is accurate. Spirits are never wrong; what can be wrong is the interpretation by the medium or the client’s understanding of the message.

During a reading for Misty, the spirit of her great-grandfather kept showing me the image of a large birthday cake.

“I’m seeing a big birthday cake. This indicates that someone close to you just had a birthday or is about to have a birthday,” I conveyed.

“Hmmm, can’t think of anyone,” Misty replied.

“So, no one close to you had a birthday recently?”

“Nope!” Misty seemed sure of her information.

“Is someone’s birthday coming up?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

“Are you sure it’s not your great-grandfather’s birthday?”

“No, that isn’t for months,” she answered.

“This is really strong! Could it be someone connected to your great-grandfather?”

“But Mark, it’s not his birthday—that was three months ago,” she told me.

“It really seems important because your great-grandfather’s spirit keeps showing me this huge birthday cake with lots of candles on it. You are somehow connected to this celebration.”

“Oh, wait! I almost forgot! Earlier today I was at my great-grandmother’s one-hundredth birthday party. She’s my great-grandfather’s wife—do you think that’s what he could be talking about?”

It is not unusual during a reading for people to not immediately recognize the information being transmitted. My experience has shown me that many people are overwhelmed by the information or nervous during the reading. They simply need time to process the information in order to receive the maximum benefit from the reading.

Many pieces of evidence that come through during interdimensional communication may not make sense to the client right away. The client may be overwhelmed emotionally and by the volume of messages and information that he or she does not immediately understand. It often requires a period of reflection after the reading, which can take hours, days, or even longer to fully understand what was conveyed. This is also why it is a good idea to take notes or record the session.
