Villa
I used to belong to a nasty little firm of lads who watched the Villa, home and away. I ain’t too proud to say that we were all more than capable of holding our own against anybody. All told, I suppose there were about twenty of us and at most games there were about fifteen or so - some of us did shift work and couldn’t always get to matches. We used to get up to all sorts of stuff; it didn’t matter what the other club was, if we could get a result then we would. We tried to stay away from the main Villa mobs as the police were all over them, and we never travelled with any organised group so that we could stop where we wanted. We always hired a van from a place where one of the lads worked, which meant that the back used to be packed out with the lads who all drank like fishes, especially if we were travelling a long way. It also meant that if we stopped anywhere, those in the front could start something off and if anything happened, the back doors would fly open and the cavalry would pour out. I’ve seen some lads shit themselves when those doors have flown open. It’s just a classic ambush and they are well shagged.
One of our favourite tricks was to swap the number plates so that we could get right in and cause some real damage without any chance of the Filth tracing the van back to us. I know it was a bit risky, in case we had an accident or got pulled for something, but it wasn’t as if we were going on a picnic anyway. We used to get up to some right stuff then, pulling up outside pubs and putting the windows in, all that sort of thing, but some of the best rucks actually happened during the journey, at service stations and places like that. There’s one especially that stands out from the rest because it was just such a great result.
We had just played at Forest, and although there had been a bit of mischief on the way, it had been quite a quiet day for us, really, and we hadn’t heard that much about anything happening elsewhere, either. The team were shit and lost, but as most of us were pretty pissed by this time we didn’t really care that much. After about half an hour of driving around we left the city to head back to Birmingham. We were bombing along when the traffic slowed down and stopped at this set of lights. Suddenly one of the lads in the front shouted that there was a minibus full of Forest behind us and it was then that we decided to do them, sort of revenge for some trouble we had been in the year before. When the lights changed, the lad driving our van started to edge forward really slowly so that he was at the front of the queue when the lights went orange.
