Chapter 6 - Euphoria
Next Saturday, I knew Dana would be waiting for me in front of the gates because she told me so. I felt my heart rushing in excitement. We didnât comment about the previous week, only smiled, and, once, outside the gates, we held hands, waiting for Eric.
We met at the park. A boy was there, smoking, lying on the floor. Eric waited for us in an old car. We got in, with other people that we didnât know. They greeted us and offered us weed, which we accepted. I sat in the back, next to Dana and another girl. The boy that had been smoking was in the front, next to Eric. The wind, coming in through the open windows, made the girls' hair whip everywhere. There was some type of indie music on the radio.
We went out on the road, getting the railway. I wish we were on the run and never came back. After a while, I was able to see the ruins of an old, abandoned shed in the middle of the cornfield. We parked at the side of the road, got out of the car, and entered the grass, which went up to the knee. They didn't hesitate for a second. I even felt intimidated. The only thing that made me more at ease was holding Danaâs hand.
Facing the building's fragile skeleton, I stopped for a second to look at its black metal walls and semi-loose screws. Any blow would knock him down, but that did not stop Eric from inferring an extraordinary kick at the entrance door.
The door opened in an echoing noise. Inside we heard some rats screeching in terror. I could see gigantic, closed boxes. Light came in through large windows of broken glass. We went inside. The girl that was with us put some deep house song to play, which was amplified thanks to the reverberation of the place.
The boy, who was still smoking, grabbed a metal bar from the floor and, screaming, used it like a baseball bat, hitting the first box, which shattered into a thousand splinters. The noise was devastating, but, unlike most of the sudden devastating noises, it was not strange. In fact, it seemed to fit perfectly with the moment. Inside the box were old and outdated televisions. He picked one up and threw it on the floor, jumping over the glass pieces. I was overwhelmed at first, but soon everyone grabbed something to break, screaming. I allowed myself to enter entropy. I took a heavy iron bar and proceeded to smash boxes. They brought some vodka bottles and drank directly from them. I also chugged it down, till my eyes watered. We looked like madmen and animals. We broke things, we screamed, we jumped. I don't know how we stopped, but at some point, Dana and I were kissing wildly, drunk, running our hands through each othersâ bodies, sweating, salty, delicious.
âIâm glad I met you,â I whispered under my breath. She tasted like stardust, I swear I thought that at the time.
