Vivian Marshall sighed as her husband, Harold, thrust into her. Ten years ago when he proposed to her she knew that she wasn’t in love with him, but she had been fond of him, she had loved him like a brother. She knew that he was going to grow from his job as an assistant manager at McDonald’s. Over the years she had grown numb to his verbal barrage, but occasionally he’d throw out a zinger that’ll hit her to the core.

Vivian stared at the ceiling thinking about the clothes she had to return to Saks Fifth Avenue tomorrow. She had purchased a couple party dresses that she wanted to wear to Harold’s annual New Year’s Eve party, but after trying them on a third time, she didn’t like them. Vivian absently ran her hands over Harold’s bulk, she had long since grown immune to the rolls of fat and the squishy parts of him that no man should have. He reminded her of a rutting pig. Drops of sweat rained on her, and rolled over her smooth, unblemished skin. She didn’t bother wiping them away, years of doing so, had proved to be a fruitless effort, a shower afterwards always did the trick.

Harold panted, then leaned forward, his weight crushed her and his fleshy boobs scraped against her face. She squirmed underneath him signaling that he needed to pull up, but Harold continued thrusting, Vivian placed her hands on his chest then pushed. “Harold,” she murmured. A few minutes later, Harold’s voice cut through her reverie. He had finished and was resting next to her. “What’s wrong with you?” he barked. “You’re not really into it tonight.”

Vivian turned away from him. “Just tired, I had a long day.”

“Doing what, spending my money?” he asked meanly. “I saw the credit card bill, ten thousand dollars this month, you spent ten thousand dollars of my money.”

Vivian flattened her lips. “A lot of those charges were from, La Perla, Stella McCartney, and Victoria’s Secret,” she said softly, her voice belying her inner turmoil.

“They’re shit, they aren’t working. I think we need to bring in a third person,” he said abruptly.
