2.3 ENISA Security Concern Towards Cloud Computing

In 2009, first time ENISA published a report cloud security risk assessment [7] which described the advantages security risk in cloud environment. This report also provided some criteria, to calculate the risk associated with adoption of cloud technology. Till the date there have been many research documents specifically been published by this organization related to cloud security area.

3 Common Security Concerns by Cloud Consumer

In Sect. 2, we already had mentioned and discussed about the Cloud computing security issues. The main issue arises when we are dealing with a peculiar type of cloud i.e. it always depends on the cloud deployment type through which we can identify the security concerns. If we take the case of public cloud, only then the security and privacy concerns are always high for user side and the responsibility over the shoulders of CSP is more than the private or hybrid cloud. As, the sheer property of publicness/openness in cloud environment make it more vulnerable than the other non-disclosing or abstract cloud environments.

To access a threat we need to understand the attack vectors. Attack vectors are those entities through which the vulnerabilities are exploited and become threats for the environment. In cloud environment major attack vectors are virtual machine, network layer, application layer, hypervisor, application program interface and legal & compliance unit/modules.
