5.7.2 Limitations and Lessons Learned

The two most important limitations of this study are the small number of teachers who finally participated and the fact that matcha did not allow the development of networking, as an ESN would. Also, several functionalities were missing: a space for collaborative work, the possibility of looking for specific members among a large number of participants, the opportunity to visualize members through badges, or other means. Therefore, Academic-match must be considered a group tool, not a network tool.

An important lesson learned in this study was the need to make sure all teachers acquire all proper digital skills. These include skills required for online teaching, know-how to conduct collaborative tasks online, and using any type of device.
