2.5 Goku Changes Those around Him

Goku is a force of change, both in himself and others. And sometimes Goku is the harbinger of change while other times he is the one forced to adapt. His fight against Vegeta is just one of many instances where conflict comes to Goku unwillingly. He wasn’t asking for trouble. Trouble came to him. The resulting conflicts not only force him to change, but his opponents too.

By the end of the original Dragon Ball the conflicts on Earth had mostly been settled. Piccolo was still lurking about, but Goku had already proven that he was the better man. Who else was there to fight?

Starting the rest of his life, Goku marries Chi-Chi and has a son, named Gohan in honor of his grandpa. There’s peace on Earth for the next 5 years, until that one fateful day.
