Take out a pen and paper. Bring into your mind a desire you have. Take a moment to imagine your life as if that desire has been fulfilled. Don’t worry about how it happened, just go to the end result. When you’re ready, write a thank-you note to the Universe for fulfilling that desire. It may seem silly, but be vulnerable to how you would really, really be feeling right now if your reality included that desire.
For as long as I can remember, I have been familiar with the Serenity Prayer, which includes the line give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. While you often cannot change what’s occurring outside of you, there is always the possibility of change occurring inside. Just because something has always been doesn’t mean it always has to be, and your willingness to adapt within yourself can greatly affect what you see around you. Accepting the moment doesn’t mean you’re okay with things staying the way they are right now. Acceptance is surrendering to how things are so you can direct your energy instead to forming what might be.
