“It is, but you’re not getting it until after you heal. Now, talk to me more about love.” Renard grabbed one of the meats off the plate.

“Yeah? Is that what we’re going for?”

“We are. I’m already there, babe. You’re the only person I care for. The only one I’d want to make those sacrifices for.”

“And how did you come to that conclusion?”

“When you shielded me the other sun light from getting shot by the Abugendi. You risked your life twice for me, Renard. That says something.”

“Yeah, I guess it does. I mean, occasionally, I get into hero mode and can’t stop myself from helping someone. But… with you, it’s all different. It all means something additional, something special.”

Dominic scooped his eggs into his mouth with his fingers and licked them. “I’m special to you, Rocky?”

Renard laughed and stabbed his eggs with the fork. “You are. You’re… my mate. Who I want to be with. It’s almost as if you were made for me.”

“Ooh, like soul mates?” Dominic perked up at that.

Renard swallowed and put his plate down. “Yes. The person I’m destined to be with for the rest of my existence.”

“I wanna be that for you, Renard.” Dominic stepped in, curling both arms around Renard’s neck. He pressed his lips against Renard’s, tangling tongues with him until he nearly lost his breath. His flesh tingled, heating all over.
