The only downside to a party in the woods was the complete lack of toilets. I’d tried my best to hold it in for the last couple of hours, but I’d hit that point. Hit that peak and I knew that I was about to break the seal and potentially ruin the rest of my evening. But I couldn’t help myself, I needed to go.

I made my way farther into the tree line, away from the rest of the crowd, and wandered off on my own. I’d told the others where I was heading, pretty sure they’d heard me. I’d got a nod, at least from Clo.

Anyway, I found a tree that was well hidden and nobody seemed to be around. I quickly peed, then stood still for a moment. I didn’t want to head straight back to the party. I was having such a good time, but I needed a minute or two alone to process it all. Rifling through my bag to find the packet of tissues I’d put there—I’d learned from the last time—my fingers brushed against a folded piece of paper.

Hm. Didn’t remember putting that there. Knowing me, I could have put it in my bag forever ago. It was super rare that I cleaned my bag out, and I’d always wanted to joke about how it reminded me of Mary Poppins’ bag, but I’d never had any friends to joke about it with. Huh. Must remember to use that line with Clover sometime soon.

I giggled to myself. Man, I could be funny.

Maybe I’d had more to drink than I realised. Knew I should have eaten more at dinner, too.

Anyway, the paper.

I pulled it out of my bag and read it, smiling as I did.
