It quantizes the three-dimensional spatial geometry of GR, and its applications to cosmology are successful in describing flat and homogeneous models;

LQG has been successfully applied to the study of black holes and has proved consistent with the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy formulation. It has had success in calculating black hole entropy; the results matched predictions made by Hawking and Bekenstein;

Its applications to cosmology suggest that the discreteness of physical space implies that the big bang of classical cosmology is replaced by the big bounce. It thus predicts a big bounce rather than an infinite singularity at the beginning of the big bang;
