Peter was talking about false prophets when he said: “Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children” (2 Peter 2:14). False prophets prey on the unstable. If you see instability in your life, shore up your soul with the Word of God so you will not fall into this error.

Prophetic ministry can be abused. Sometimes, abusive prophetic ministry produces unstable Christians who are dependent more on the prophet than on the Prophet (Jesus). I have heard far too many stories of Christians who go to prophets for confirmation about decisions they are trying to make.
