Frogs

It is commonly believed in England that frogs pass water…. As for their croaking, St. Grengoul was so upset by it, while he was saying mass, that he tied their tongues and made them mute. The lamas in Tartary explain earthquakes in this way: When God formed the earth, he placed it on the back of a big frog; and every time the animal shakes his head or stretches out his legs, he makes the part of the earth above him tremble…. The brush frog, when chopped up and rubbed over the kidneys, makes dropsical persons urinate so much that they are cured. 63
