The VMs used in this chapter (the REFW10X64-001 VM is created in this chapter).

Build a Windows 10 Reference Image

1. Copy the E:\MDTBuildLab\Boot\MDT Build Lab x86.iso on MDT01 to C:\Setup\ISO on the host PC.

Real World Note: In MDT, when building reference images, you can use the x86 boot image to deploy both x86 and x64 operating system images. That's why you use the x86 boot image in this guide instead of the x64 boot image.

2. Create a virtual machine with the following settings:

a. Name: REFW10X64-001

b. CPUs: 2 vCPUs

c. Location: C:\VMs (or any location where you have space)

d. Memory: 2048 MB (if you have lots of memory, use 4 GB or more instead)

Note: Avoid using dynamic memory.
