Altar Work

One of the best ways to connect with deities is by having an altar and giving offerings and prayers regularly. An altar is a sacred space or place where you can make the linkage. There is detailed information on our website, (3rdeyeactivation.com ) and Youtube (youtube.com/thirdeyeactivation ), to help you set up an altar and begin your works. There are a myriad of ways to set up an altar which is beneficial since everyone has different living situations. Do your best to set up an altar that fits within your lifestyle. Again, I suggest listening to your Spirit and follow the path to which you are best guided.

An altar is a gateway between our world and the Spirit World. Imagine a doorway that leads directly to Spirit. This is exactly what an altar is, an entrance (in trance). Once you have an altar set up, you have a direct line of communication to the Spirit World. This allows for thoughts to be planted more deeply into the fabric of reality that cause changes in our world. The gods play a major role in influencing the natural and miraculous events of this physical world. An altar gives you easy access to this power.

Making a connection to a particular god or goddess is like forming any other relationship. With some, there may be an instant attraction. Others, take time and effort. And, some just do not work. Deities have their own unique personalities, as do humans. Different personality types are going to get along differently. This is basic sociology and also applies to connecting with deities.

The single most important factor for cultivating your relationship with deities is to simply give energy in the form of offerings and prayers (words spoken during offerings; not religious). It is about consistency. The more you put in, the more you will get out of the relationship. Do you tend to look out for and help those who you know have your back? This analogy is not far-fetched when dealing with deities. The gods know what we are capable of and are more likely to honor our offerings when we give what we are able and give from the heart.

The following information will explain how to set up an altar, give offerings and prayers, and what to place on altars. Choosing deities is one thing, connecting and putting in work is another. Combine the two, selecting and connecting, and you have a powerful kinship.

What to place on an altar

A basic altar consists of a table made from a natural element like wood. Upon the table is usually something representing the four elements: fire, water, air, and earth.

Fire: candle

Water: bowl or chalice of water

Earth: crystals, gemstones, rocks, coins, money

Air: incense

Placing deities on the altar is fairly easy. All you need is a statue and/or picture. You can shop online to purchase statues, especially of the popular deities like Oshun, Ganesh, Lakshmi, Apollo, Thoth/Tehuti, Venus and others. Or, check local metaphysical, spiritual, and occult shops or flea markets and specialty boutiques for affordable statues.
