“So who made all this mess then?” asked her mum.

“Nobody,” Holly said.

“What do you mean, nobody?” demanded her dad. “It didn’t make itself, did it?”

Holly took a deep breath. “I think it was a ghost.”

“What are you talking about?” It was her mum’s turn to shout. “Have you been taking drugs?”

“You don’t understand,” wailed Holly. “There were lots of ghosts!”

“Oh, you can see ghosts, can you?” said her mum in a nasty voice. She didn’t believe Holly.

Holly tried to explain to her parents what had happened. But she knew it sounded stupid.

Her dad thought the protestors had attacked the house again and wanted to put in CCTV cameras.

Her mum thought Holly was lying about having a party.

Holly was grounded. They took away her phone and told her she couldn’t see Ash.

Her dad spent the day boarding up the broken windows. Holly sat in her room. She was sure it was ghosts that she and Ash had heard.
