“Does she always do that?” GP asks, looking at the headboard of his bed where Jinx is perched, watching over us.

“She’s gargoyling.” I laugh against his chest. “Just ignore her.”

“I don’t think I can do that,” he huffs. “She’s got this look on her face, like she’s trying to figure out if she’s going to eat me or let me live.”

“Bless your heart,” I say with a giggle. “Who’d have thought a big guy like you would be afraid of a little old cat.”

His eyes remain on Jinx. “I’m not afraid, just overly cautious, seeing as how she went after Walter the other day. How long does she do this for?”

“Could be hours. Jinx kinda does whatever she wants, if you couldn’t already tell.”

Men. Walter can whine outside the door all he wants, but one little old cat watches them and it’s game over. I shift away from GP’s warm body, and gently shoo her off the headboard. She lands on the floor with a thud, and a growl of displeasure. “Happy now?”

“Yes,” he laughs. “I don’t have to worry about her trying to kick my ass for holding you.” He pulls me back down atop his naked chest and snakes his arm around my shoulder, lazily brushing his fingers across it. “I like the way you feel against me like this.”

His admission is a bit shocking, because I like it as well. If you’d have asked me if I thought in a million years I would wind up in bed with him, I’d have laughed in your face. This entire situation and relationship is far outside my comfort zone, but he makes me feel so different the longer he holds me.

“You still awake?’ I tease him when quiet snores slip from his mouth.

“Why? You ready to go again, Red?” He stirs, planting a kiss against my forehead. Seeing him like this is a stark contrast from the way he is when he’s storming the gates to protect me.

“Not that,” I declare, making him frown. “We still need to go over to my house to get my stuff.”

“You’re right. As much as I would like to stay in this bed with you the rest of the night, we should get over there before it gets too late. Then, we can get back to more of this.” He draws me into a kiss before throwing the blanket away and sliding out of the bed. His tight ass is on full display as he walks to his dresser, grabs a pair of basketball shorts from the drawer, and puts them on. The way they hang low over his hips makes me second guess going to get my stuff. It could wait. Right?

He turns back to me and grins. “Are you getting out of there, or do I need to get back in there and drag you out… later?”

“If we did that, I’d have to wear your boxers to class tomorrow,” I fire back when I leave the bed to scrounge around for something to wear, since my borrowed dress isn’t fit for the public anymore, thanks to GP.
