“Then what?”

“It’s nothing and I really need to wrap things up.” She turned her attention to the children. “That’s good enough guys. We will take it up again on Wednesday. Good job.”

“I suppose that now you are a new woman, you are no longer available for prayers?” Elijah’s reproving tone followed her as she went into the house and took off her coat. The manse was attached to the sanctuary but there was no access to it from there. They had to go outside and up a flight of stairs to gain access to the living area.

Erin’s rooms faced the woods that led to the cottage and there was a door that opened there - and she had given her husband a key to let himself inside and she was eager to be with him. The area was dense with trees and shrubberies and their nearest neighbor, which was Melissa, was a few feet away. They had complete privacy, something for which Erin was grateful.

“I am tired, Father. I have been at it since early this morning. I am asking to be excused tonight.”

“Are you getting too big for prayers Erin?”

“I am getting too big for the constant battle.” She turned to face him. “You are making it very difficult for me to be a loving daughter.”

His thick eyebrows descended into a frown. “What are you saying?”

“I am saying that I need the space to be my own person.”

“Go on then. Be your own person.”

“I wish we could do this without the resentment and anger.”

“You should have thought about that before you decided that you wanted to backslide.”

“What?”

“Isn’t that what this is all about? You want to go out and taste what the world has to offer.”

She shook her head and smiled slightly. “You don’t know me at all, do you?”

“Apparently not.” He told her stiffly. “Please don’t let me keep you.”

“Goodnight Father.”

She turned and walked swiftly along the passageway, her heart pounding as she anticipated seeing her husband. She had seen him this morning and had been with him all night, but she could not wait for his arms to be around her and his assurance that everything would be fine.

She closed and locked the door, her eyes searching the semi-dark room to see him. he was not in her sitting room and when she went into her bedroom, expecting to see him on her bed, he was not there either. An acute sense of disappointment assailed her, and she was about to take out the phone to call him when she sensed him behind her.

“My husband is expected.” She murmured as she leaned back against him.

‘I thought I would be a good substitute,” his deep voice and his lips against her neck send shivers all over her body.

“I am afraid not.”

“Why is that?”

“There is no substitute for the original.”

“Is that so?” He was nibbling at her flesh and sending jolts of fire through her.

“Hmm. But keep doing that and I might change my mind.”

“How about this?” His hands came around to cup her breasts, the nipples already hard.
