Chapter Twelve
âThe Andreiniâ
âLose the jacket, Leo,â I said coolly as I walked back into my office after making sure Arianna would be occupied with the mountain of food sheâd ordered. Clearly, she was pissed that I hadnât dropped everything to go looking for her friend. Iâd deal with her defiance in front of one of my men later. She needed to understand that I couldnât accept disobedience of any kind in front of others. If they saw her do it, motherfuckers might begin to think they could challenge me too. And then Iâd have to kill a few to re-education them.
I had brought Leo here for the very same reason. Fucker thought he could challenge me, never realizing that I had eyes and ears everywhere. No one got away with fucking with me. He had at first been very calm and was holding his story together very well. After âquestioningâ the men that Arianna dated, it seemed they all knew someone in my organization, the same someone. Once I cleaned my sword from the different blood I had spilled this morning, I called Leo to meet me here. The bastard didnât have a clue as to why Iâd called him. If the men who dared to try fuck my wife werenât alive to talk about it, there wasnât a chance in hell the one whoâd orchestrated to put these men in her life wasnât going to die a slow painful death.
I wouldnât have suspected Leoâs prior knowledge of the men Arianna had dated from his responses to my questions. He tried his best to explain away how he came to know these men and how it was simply a coincidence that he did. If Giorgio hadnât been the best at his job, it iced my blood what could have happened to my wife if sheâd trusted any of them.
I carefully took my jacket off, threw it onto the desk, and then gave Leo a cool stare to ensure he did the same. Every one of the men who worked in my inner sanctum knew what that meant. The office door closed automatically with a decisive click, and then there was a loud zip of a lock being activated at the same time that the wall behind my desk, lined with books, parted to reveal a large spacious sterilized room. The room was almost the same size as my suite since it served many purposes. The walls were lined with all manner of weapons on one side and a series of monitors and TV screens on the other. The members of my Sentinels were already in the room, having come in from a service elevator that opened into this room. They were here for effect, nothing more.
Leo glanced nervously at them.
My Sentinels were not lightweights, and when together like this, they were intimidating as fuck. Marco was a Comanche with dark hair longer than mine, U.S. Special Forces. Ivan was Russian born, ex-KGB and a giant of a man, almost seven feet tall.
