It has been a week since dinner with Dane. I have been on cloud nine ever since. I have a perpetual smile on my face. Even Reagan noticed. I tried playing it off by saying that I’m just so happy being here in Linvale and away from Brad. Thankfully, she bought it.

I don’t enjoy keeping things from my friend, but it’s not as if I’m lying or being deceitful. My personal life is my business and what I do doesn’t affect her in any way. Still, this is something she would want to know and I bet if the roles were reversed she would be quick to spill the beans.

I didn’t see Dane again until Monday morning at work, but we texted and spoke on the phone. When I got to the office Monday morning, he was already there. He called me into his office and gave me the sweetest kiss.

Though I had worried our personal involvement would affect our professional dynamic, everything seems the same for the most part. The only difference is the flirting and stolen kisses when no one is looking. On Wednesday, he caught me in the stairwell and pinned me against the wall, kissed me senseless and spoke so many naughty words that it took me fifteen minutes to stop blushing.

But we’ve also gotten to know each other on a deep level. I learned that his birthday is only a month away and while he doesn’t do much to celebrate the day of his birth, he enjoys getting older. He enjoys the gained life experience each year brings. He’s finally reached an age and level of success in life that he’s now ready for his next chapter aka getting married and starting a family. While he likes being physically active, he’s very much a homebody. He prefers eating in rather than going out. He has a live in housekeeper and cook, but makes his own bed each morning and cooks his own meals at least twice a week.

It wasn’t just he who opened up. I’ve told him all about my very boring, safe suburban, middle-class upbringing. We spoke at length about my hobbies and interests as well as my hopes for the future. I told him that despite my young age, I very much want to be a wife and mother. I want to be a young mom. I have no interest in waiting until I’m in my thirties before getting hitched and pregnant. When he asked how many kids I hope to have, the answer was three and he admitted that he thinks three is the perfect number. The more we talk the more we find things we have in common. I never would have expected that.

We also spoke about Brad and that whole situation. The more I told Dane, the angrier he became. At one point, he was ready to get in the car and go kick Brad’s ass. I was extremely touched when he vowed to keep me safe. He actually promised me that I have seen the last of Brad and will be safe from this day forward.
