BIT SLEPT in until nearly noon, but poor Allen was still asleep after six that evening. Not wanting to wake him for anything, Bit made a stew that could sit and bubble away until Allen did finally wake up.

There were two boxes of random cupcakes that were left over, and he munched happily on a couple as he watched Handyman Nightmares on the tube.

Allen was going to hurt himself, working like this, driving himself into exhaustion. Bit knew how hard it was to move from a tiny business model where he did everything himself to a bigger one where he had to delegate tasks, trust someone else to do some of the work. It meant putting the business in someone else’s hands, even if only partially, and that was damned scary.

It would have to be done, though, because Allen couldn’t continue like he had this week. His pretty lover had aged ten years; the bags under his eyes were big enough to pack for an overseas trip, and Bit was worried. He’d only just found Allen; he didn’t want to lose the man to a heart attack or something.

Bit heard the toilet flush, then soft footsteps.

“My God, how long did I sleep?” Allen asked.

He double-checked his watch. “Fourteen hours. You needed it.” Grinning, Bit held his arms open.

Allen came right to him, all rumpled and fine. “Hey, lover.”

“Hey.” He kissed Allen soundly, then leaned their foreheads together. “How’re you feeling?”

“Better. So much better. Thank you for last night.”

“You’re very welcome.” He kissed Allen’s nose. “I’ve got stew on the stove. Beer in the fridge, and we have a whole evening with no plans.”

“Oh God. That sounds like heaven.”

“Excellent.” He kissed Allen again, snuggling the man close. They fit together so well. Allen settled in, their lips clinging.

He opened up, inviting Allen into his mouth. He loved the happy little sound, the way Allen crawled up closer. He took a double handful of Allen’s ass. God, he loved how it felt in his hands, how perfectly each butt cheek filled his palms.

And the way the man smiled, and the way Allen stroked his hair and the way Allen smelled and…. Smiling, he bit at Allen’s lower lip, tugged gently on it.

“Mmm. Byron. I never knew anyone could make me need so much.”

“Really?” Not even Gary, the man Allen had been with for ten years?

“Honest.” Allen kissed him again.

“Well, I’ll have to make sure I keep it up.” He waggled his eyebrows. “Get it? Keep it up….”

Allen looked at him, then started laughing, eyes dancing for him. He laughed along, pleased that Allen seemed to appreciate his sense of humor. He felt Allen’s belly, growling and rumbling against him, though, and knew laughter and sex weren’t the only things Allen needed.

“Let’s get you fed.” That was what he’d promised—sleep and food.

“I want you more than food.” The soft words sounded so heartfelt.

Bit had to kiss Allen for that, for the way the words warmed him from the inside out. Allen opened up, tongue sliding against his.
