Chapter Eighteen
That evening, Ken tried to phone Morrie Silberman, but got no answer. The reason why was given to him the next day by Rachel. âMom and Dad invited me to come with them over the holiday at Uncle Morrie and Aunt Estherâs cottage, but I wanted to go with you to Harbourfront. I didnât think you would want to be bored all day out in the bush, though their cottage is pretty nice.â
âYouâre right. Iâd rather have you all by yourself for the day. Rural cottages donât exactly turn me on. We always lived out in the country, and I want to take advantage of what the city has to offer for a change.â
They went first by ferry to the Islands, where they rented bicycles to ride around. Later, they took the ferry back to the mainland and wandered among the delights offered by Harbourfront and Ontario Place. They ate late in the afternoon, and then went home so Rachel could get some rest before going to work. Ken found himself still weak from his illness, and dropped into bed, sleeping soundly until morning.
He had told Rachel about Tom Senguptaâs invitation, and she was excited by the prospect of meeting new people and sampling new food.
