Change Management
Regardless of how carefully scope is managed during the implementation, the balance between structure and flexibility that we previously discussed, combined with a structured project methodology, will inevitably lead to scope changes. These scope changes can be the result of conscious decision of the project team, or the result of an issue that occurs on the project. When they occur, you can use a number of tools to track these items.
Change Requests
The change request process allows the project team to document the functional and technical updates to the scope of the project. This document should also be used to document and track the impact to hours and budget that the scope change has on the process. You can find more information on the change request process in Chapter 6.
