4 1/2 c. flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

3 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1/2 tsp. allspice

1 c. shortening

2 eggs, beaten

2 c. sour cream

1 1/3 c. packed brown sugar

1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

1 c. chopped dates or raisins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix and sift flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix in shortening with a fork until crumbly. Beat eggs and add to sour cream. Add brown sugar to sour cream and combine with dry ingredients. Add nuts and fruit. Drop by tsp.

onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 16 minutes.
