Hereâs a brief summary of the levers included in the Market Entry framework:
â¢Market: What are the characteristics of the market we are trying to enter? Key characteristics could include the market size and profitability, products already available in the market, intensity of the competition, heaviness of regulation, etc.
â¢Client capabilities: Does the client have the right capabilities to enter that new market? To evaluate this, you might analyse the differences between the clientâs current market and the new market they are targeting, the number of times the client has entered new markets successfully, other companies already in the new market, etc.
â¢Financials: Does it make financial sense to enter the new market? Considerations could include the current financial situation of the client, the cost to enter the new market, ongoing costs after entering the market, expected revenues and ROI, etc.
â¢Entry strategy: How should the client go about entering the new market? This strategy could consider the timing of market entry (now vs later), the scale of market entry (e.g. test region vs whole country), opportunities to buy competitors or do a joint venture, the management approach (control from HQ vs decentralise), etc.
14.6 Pricing Framework
Companies always face a difficult question when launching a new product or service: What should the price be? The pricing framework is extremely helpful when answering that question.
