72) Martin Heidegger to Ernst Jünger, after 26 September 1974
To all who participate in the effort of reflection in the present age of the world, to give thanks for your thoughts:
More founding than poetry,
More grounding than thinking,
Let thanks remain.
Those who reach gratitude
brings thanks back before
the presence of the inaccessible,
for which we—mortals all—
From the in-ception
Are appropriate.
Martin Heidegger
73) Ernst Jünger to Martin Heidegger, 7941 Wiflingen, über Riedlingen, 4 October 1974
Dear, Honored Martin Heidegger,
I missed your 85th birthday while in Turkey. I belatedly join the crowd of those offering their congratulations.
You must now make for your ninetieth with your friends. Post nubila Phoebus already announces itself.95 For us of course these are just questions of topography, but is still good, and perhaps it is even a general indication, when one sees things coming into order albeit externally.
With cordial wishes, for you and for your opus magnum that now begins,96
Yours,
Ernst Jünger
P. S. I was pleased today that Jean Beaufret sent me the third volume of his Dialogue with Heidegger.
