Chapter Fourteen

Connor

I DID NOT SLEEP at all last night. I couldn’t sleep when all I could think about was the kiss with Maya on our doorstep. The feel of her against me, the way the second our bodies came together she just fell into me without hesitation.

For a moment anyway.

And now we have kissed, that protectiveness inside me has only grown stronger.

When I told Pierce to follow her outside last night and make sure she was okay I was just trying to take a minute to get myself together. I was blown away when she kissed me first… because it wasn’t long before I would have kissed her with the way she was looking at me all night. I wouldn’t take advantage of her when she had been drinking so much.

I was jealous when I saw them happily chatting and standing close together. Pierce could see it all over my face and no doubt he was amused.

I couldn’t wait to get her alone and have her to myself. Even though it was cold and wet, I’ve never had a more perfect kiss. I’ve never felt such a pull to a woman then I did last night for Maya.

I want more, which shouldn’t be a problem. Even with my own insecurities about starting a relationship with someone. They seem to disappear with Maya. She’s the exception. Now she’s in my life I won’t let go of her.

She is the one who is pushing me away. She gave in easily last night when we were close, but she pulled us apart. I need to work out how to break down those walls she has up. Find out why she won’t let me in. I’ll pull the down brick by brick with my bare hands if that’s what it takes.

“Daydreaming about Maya again?” Liam says but when I look over to their beds both brothers are looking at me.

“I kissed her last night.”

“Yeah, we saw brother,” Pierce states bluntly. Trying to be emotionless but we all know that’s just a facade.

“No, I kissed her again when we got home last night.”

Liam and Pierce don’t say anything at that; they only give me their uneasy gaze with pinched eyes that don’t meet mine for long.

I don’t really have anything else to say anyway. I get up and head for the shower before my brothers beat me to it. It’s a new day and I can’t wait to see Maya this morning.
