CHAPTER 9

Charlotte never in her life thought that Atlas was going to agree to having her stay at Gael’s. Never in a million years did she think for one second that Atlas was going to let this happen. She was so confused. Her fear was facing Atlas alone and copping it. She had no idea what was going on in his head. Truth be told, the only reason she agreed with Gael about spending the nights was purely because she believed whole heartedly that Atlas was not going to allow it.

The absolute last thing that Charlotte wanted to do was be in house with Gael and Tabitha. She was not strong enough to do this. Not at all.

Charlotte lay in her bed recalling how Atlas had come to her place. Somebody was at her door and she was not expecting to see Atlas there. Been one day since Gael found out about Emma. She was shocked to her core that he was in her apartment.

Of course Emma was ecstatic to have somebody there. Nobody ever came to her unit. Atlas walked in and looked around like he owned the place. Emma was quick to approach Atlas and tap him on the thigh, she always did that. Always wanted his attention.

Charlotte called out for daughter knowing that Atlas did not want to have any sort of relationship with her daughter. Emma never listened to Charlotte anyway and continued to pursue Atlas’ attention. “Hey...” Emma tapped Atlas again. “Hey... Hey you. Play peekaboo wiff me?”

“Emma, come here honey. Do you want to play with your books?”

“I playing peekaboo wiff my daddy.” Oh my god. She called him her daddy... She would hear Sean call him daddy. This was so sad.

“Emma... Come here.” Please just come child!

“Go pack your shit. All your shit.” Atlas finally spoke to Charlotte.

“I... What?” Did she hear him correctly?

“You quit? Okay, go and pack your shit.”

“Atlas... I... Why?” Charlotte was afraid. She did not want to return to Atlas’. Here she had some kind of freedom. Atlas’ cover was blown. He no longer cared that she knew he was having her followed or that he paid for her to be on her own. He was done with the pretence of it all it would seem.

“Go and pack.” Of course there was no getting anything out of Atlas. She could see how tense he was. Charlotte did as she was told and moved back into the mansion.

Atlas was not a happy man. He was so cold towards her. So unamused by anything and everything she did. Emma was so taken by Atlas she would follow him around and do anything to get him to look at her. Atlas would give Mirah a look to take her away.

Charlotte was so upset. She hated how Atlas refused to even look at her daughter. It was so frustrating how Emma would call Atlas my daddy and follow him around like he was a god.

It got to Charlotte so much one evening. Emma was tapping Atlas on his thigh.
