Determine the wireless router that is currently connected and search for the PHY mode in the menu

In the diagram shown below, the current router uses the 802.11n wireless protocol as shown. PHY is an abbreviation for the physical layer which refers to the OSI communication model lowest level.

Based on the MAC network card and your router, you may see 802.11g, n, b, ac, or 802.11a or sometimes 802.11 ay or 802.11 as if you stay in a wireless local area connection or network (WLAN) laboratory. The wireless security encryption technique in use can also be determined using the same procedure.
