Types of Risk Analysis

When performing a risk assessment, it is important to understand the two popular types of risk analysis—qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative is assigning a value based on a scale to the threat and not worrying about calculating the dollar figure associated with the risk, while quantitative is associating a cost in dollars and cents with each risk. In this section you will learn the difference between the two types.

For your exam, be very familiar with the difference between qualitative and quantitative risk analysis. Qualitative uses a scale to identify the seriousness of a threat, while quantitative uses dollar figures.
