Dante

The humidity in the air was calming for my animal. That was the biggest plus as we walked through the rainforest. From the trees being so large, we had to climb over the fallen ones instead of just stepping over them.

Nina had gasped a few times when the large bugs appeared, but she didn’t let them hinder our movements. We had a mission that was important to all of us. Vivian’s life hung in the balance. We all knew Serena wouldn’t rest once she learned Nina didn’t die.

I sent many prayers to the gods and to Charles for their help to defend her. We were walking on constant eggshells, but we were still alive. That had to do for now.

My eyes took in the river to our right. The swampy water hid many predators. I glanced over to Oz. He watched the water like a hawk, so I knew he was picking up on something.

“What do you see?” I asked him, knowing he could read the heat signatures.

“You do not wish to know, my friend.” He patted my back just as a giant snake head popped up out of the water.

I knew the Amazon was known for the green anacondas, but seeing the large head alone made my gut knot up. Much like Nina, they favored constricting their prey.

Leaving it alone, I caught up to the others. Nina looked a little worse for wear with her clammy skin and rigid body. Of course, I could scent her arousal. My female wanted sex.

I wouldn’t bring it up in front of our group because I knew what she was doing. She felt like the timing was all wrong to feel the way she did. Sometimes, sharing our anatomy with animals worked against our logic.

Wolfe picked up on it too. He turned to face me, and we shared an understanding. Nina needed assistance right now.

“Okay, let’s fill up the canteens. Oz, can you tell me where the safest part is?” Wolfe led us. It was funny that none of us other men were bothered by his role in leading our group. He had the skill set and knew how to handle hard situations.

I had done my fair share of leading missions, but I was also glad someone else could do it. Ghost was a single player for a long time, but for Nina, he seemed content working as a team. Eric was similar. He knew we were better together and bit his bullet of solitude.

Taking Nina by the hand, I saw the mutant serpent give me his own nod of approval. Wolfe would catch up Ghost as they filled the water. I only had a few minutes, but I knew what would work.

“Dante? Where are we going?” She glanced back at the others.

Finding a large tree, I pressed her against it, hiding her from the others. If anyone else saw how beautiful she was about to be, we’d be stuck here all day fucking her senseless. I had to fight my shark as I readied to help her.
