Chapter Fourteen

Laz started to laugh at his wife’s announcement but groaned when she wiggled on top of him, grinding against his erection. Yeah, he loved that she planned ahead, and he was all for make-up sex, even if he’d have to maneuver with one arm.

“Does this moment remind you of anything?” Journey asked, that grin from a moment ago lighting up her face again.

Laz chuckled. “It does, and I was just thinking about that time when you showed up at my door drunk.”

She gasped. “I was not drunk! What I remember most was that you wouldn’t give me a little something-something until I agreed to date you exclusively. You’ve always been difficult, you know that?” she said with a straight face, and he burst out laughing.

“Oh, so because I didn’t want you using me for sex, I’m the difficult one?”

“Yup, but I’m glad you forced me to date you.”

Laz shook his head. “It’s amazing how different we remember that time.”

He had been crazy about her and wanted her to be his, but he was concerned about his reputation tainting hers. A bad-boy cop who pushed every limit and a by-the-book assistant district attorney didn’t look like a good match on paper. But over the years, they proved that they were perfect for each other.

“But seriously,” Journey cupped his face between her hands and stared into his eyes, “you’re the best thing that ever happened to me, and I’m so glad you’re my husband.”

“Me too, baby,” he said and kissed her sweet lips.

“Is anyone staying in any of the nearby rooms?” Journey asked in a whisper as she sifted her fingers through his hair, something she often did and something he loved.

“Maybe. Does that bother you?”

Laz started lifting her dress higher, needing to see all of her. When he could only get the dress up so far, she helped and tugged it over her head before tossing it to the floor.

“I guess not, but that means you’ll have to be quiet.”

“Me?” He choked out a laugh. “I can’t believe you can say that with a straight face. Your passionate screams would wake up our daughter every night if she wasn’t such a sound sleeper.”

Journey laughed and kissed him. “Okay, I’ll try to be quiet.”

“Nah, babe, be you. I don’t give a damn who hears me making love to my wife.”

He was pretty sure there was no one else on that floor, and if there was, they weren’t in the rooms on either side of him. Still, he didn’t care one way or the other. All he wanted was to be buried deep inside her.

As he took in her gorgeousness, Laz glided his hand slowly down her body from the base of her neck and over her chest, only stopping when he reached her more-than-a-handful breast. “Damn, you’re so beautiful,” he said, cupping her breast.

She moaned and started to say something, but her words died on her lips when Laz lowered his head and took her nipple into his mouth. Her body
