Control Charts

While a Run Chart gives an indication of data variation over time, it fails to provide the design team with an idea of which points may be considered as out-of-control. An "Individuals" Process Control Chart looks like a Run Chart with the addition of process control limits for the data. The individuals chart draws its name from the fact that each data point to be analyzed is plotted, with no averaging or subgrouping. The design engineer creates an individuals control chart using Minitab by clicking Stat > Control Charts > Variables Charts for Individuals > Individuals, as shown in Figure 26-18. After entering the name of the column containing the data to be analyzed, the "Individuals Control Chart" is created.
