Chapter 10. Riding the Wave

The dragon, having dealt with everyone else, started to slowly crawl in my direction. It was actually a real monster. It was huge, deadly and it was splashing saliva everywhere—the three qualities that I disliked the most in other living beings. Okay, I would finish him now and go back. Yes, I most likely didn’t stand a chance, but if I even tried to give up, I’d never be a champion.

I ran forward and then the dragon opened its mouth, clearly intending to breathe fire in my direction. But that was not what I needed. Somehow, completely ignoring the laws of inertia, I turned around on my heels and rushed in the opposite direction.

One has to pay for everything. By removing elements of your armor and reducing your protection, you will increase your attack power.

2 attack points for every 1 defense point.

Was this for real? I couldn’t believe how lucky I was—who cared about attack power, the main thing was that I now maybe had a chance to remove all of these bows, ruffles and this whole sailor suit by simply playing the game. And at that very moment, the dragon exhaled.

Fu—! I wanted to swear at the top of my lungs. The flame didn’t reach me, but the air around me was so hot that I couldn’t even open my mouth. I had to force myself to calm down, clench my teeth, and run forward. Directly into the golden portal that opened in my path.

I was back!

I thought that I would finally be safe, but no. Samantha was waiting for me right at the place where I appeared, and it seemed as if she hadn’t noticed the enemy magicians and a knight on her tail. How could she have been so careless?

After I freed myself from her embrace—yes, it felt kind of good, but not really, given the body I had right now—I activated the Dragon Rage and rushed at the enemy.

I was so tired. After this battle was over, I was going to crawl under a blanket, and only the end of the world would be able to pull me out from under there. First things first—I removed those ridiculous bows. Ok, maybe they were still useful in some way, at least they kept my hair out of my eyes. The next thing to remove was the sailor vest, I was fine with wearing only a T-shirt. The skirt was gone too—I was amazed by how quickly I’d managed to get rid of it all.

Ouch! A well-aimed pinecone hit my head. It would seem that the squirrel army had found out about my return and had begun to gather its detachment of avengers.

“Aggro the squirrels!” Samantha threw back one of the pinecones that fell next to her feet, and surprisingly, she didn’t miss. Christina, who appeared next to her and to whom Samantha was talking to, followed her example—one more hit.
