So me and Taylor are no more. Be still my broken heart. I’m just kidding. It’s all good. In fact, it’s better than good. You want to know why? The whole wedding was a set-up for the show. I was just playing the part. Might as well have been EastEnders to be honest. Do I get an Oscar for my shocked face?

INTERVIEW BETWEEN TAYLOR LANCASTER AND TOM ISAAC

Let’s take a step back from the wedding for a moment. By 2012, series six of Living with the Lancasters was in full swing and had a growing fan base. You were a recognized celebrity, regularly appearing in weekly magazines and tabloids.

And you’d launched la tierra, your gorgeous clothing label, which first sold through ASOS and then through many department stores. In September of that year you had another big break when you were invited on to Richard Park Live on Saturday-night TV to promote the label and the show. I hope it’s OK, but I’m going to show you part of that interview.

EXTRACT FROM RICHARD PARK LIVE, 14 SEPTEMBER 2012

Richard: Tell us about your secret boyfriend, Taylor.

Taylor: I don’t have one. Right now I’m focusing on launching our new clothing range. It’s called la tierra, which means ‘earth’ in Spanish. My grandmother on my mother’s side was Spanish, so it was important to me that we recognize my heritage in my fashion label, and my family, who mean the world to me.

Richard: Yes, it’s a great line, and I think you’re wearing one of the la tierra dresses now, is that right? Why don’t you stand up and give us a twirl.

Taylor: Oh … OK.

Richard: Gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. Let’s get a round of applause for how stunning Taylor looks.

[Audience applause]

It really shows off your … assets. Talking of assets, I know I’m not the only man in the studio tonight who’s wondering, are they real?

[Audience laughing]

We all saw your mother’s, er … enhancements. Have you done the same?

Taylor: Um … the thing about la tierra is that it’s for all body types. I’m curvy but my sister, India, has a completely different frame, and the clothes look just as good on her. That was really important to me – to make clothes that make women of all body types feel a million bucks.

Richard: So, the boob job?

Taylor: You want to know if my boobs are fake? Are you really asking me that?

Richard: I guess we are.

[Audience laughing]

Taylor: Can we talk about my fashion label instead?

Richard: Sure, sure. We will. Once you answer the question.

Taylor: Fine. They’re real.

It’s hard not to cringe listening to that interview. I can feel your discomfort, Taylor, at the direct, sexist and completely inappropriate questions. How do you feel watching that back now?

Taylor

Pretty crap. I’d like to think I’d handle it differently now, but I don’t know if I would.
