My alarm started vibrating... then my music app turned on. It was a song about love. I smiled at Chris lying next to me. Love made everything we’ve been through worth it. I kissed her shoulder blade, and turned off the alarm.

I didn’t want to go into work today. I wanted to go over to Chris’s apartment, and empty it. She needed to be with me, and so did her stuff. I was ready to get my razor stolen, and dump all the girly stuff into the sink while I was getting ready in the morning.

I got out of the shower, and wiped off the fogged mirror. There was a sappy look on my face. My teenage self would have made fun of that look, but my teenage self would have been hooked the moment he saw Chris, now or then. It’s a good thing she doesn’t teach High School, because she would have been the hot teacher all the boys had a crush on.

I picked up a bar of soap, and wrote I ♥ you! Love Wes on the mirror.

I got dressed. Somehow, Chris slept through it all. I walked across the room, and kissed her cheek.

“Love you, Snowflake. I’ll see you tonight.” I whispered.

I didn’t expect her to answer. I just wanted to touch her. This year was already shaping up to being one of the best Christmases of my life. I turned to walk away.

“Love you Wes.” Chris’s voice was groggy.

I turned to examine her. She sounded awake, but she hadn’t moved an inch. If she was going to talk in her sleep, those were definitely the words I wanted her to say. I smiled like a fool as I quietly closed the door behind me. I found her keys, and removed her apartment key.

Rosco jumped off the couch and stretched. He hasn’t complained too much about sleeping on the couch the last few nights. I put a leash on him, and took him outside. The cold morning air was a slap to my face. If I wasn’t awake a few minutes ago, I was awake now.

I arrived at work first. I turned up the heat, and started my second pot of coffee this morning. I was halfway through a cup of coffee when Avery came in.

“Good morning, Wes.” My cousin’s tone was cheerful.

“Good morning.” I took a drink of my coffee.

I watched Avery put her purse behind her desk and take off her coat. She walked over to the coffee pot, and filled herself a cup. She poured large amounts of creamer in it, and put the creamer back in the refrigerator.

“Do anything fun this weekend?” Avery asked.

“I asked Chris to move it with me. She said yes.” I said without any emotion.

“What?” Avery laughed.

“Christmas moved in with me this weekend.” I reiterated.

“Really?” Avery was surprised.

“Yep.” I stood up and put my coffee cup in the table top dishwasher in the corner of the room.

The door flew open, Will and Ollie came in. Ollie muttered something under his breath and Will laughed.
