Chapter 5: Time Flies

It had been a couple of weeks since Nikki had found herself in the company of a werebear. There had been plenty of chances for her to leave, but something made her stay. Every day they learnt more about each other, she learnt more about him and his life. Every little whisper she discovered, such as his military background and his need to save human life--even with the beast that lingered within him—only attracted her more.

They spent night and day simply enjoying each other’s company and spinning tales of their lives. The desire and hunger for each other burned deeply within them both but they never acted on it. Every night they stayed up for hours simply talking until there was nothing left to be said.

When the dark nights consumed the cabin, they retired every night to the same bed., Kade, however, was a perfect gentleman every night. He held her close, cradling her against his body as he had their first night. Simply content in the warmth comfort of sharing a bed with another living being, they would remain perfectly curled up all night. They had spent so much of their lives alone that, like a starving beggar granted food, they savoured every last morsel of company and comfort.

Nikki’s dreams however, told a different tale. Constantly plagued with eroticism and her yearning for him, she found herself entwined with his body every morning. It delighted her to feel his throbbing length pressed against her wet, sensitive folds when she woke. In truth, Nikki had tried everything she could think of to corrupt and taint Kade into satisfying her every need, but he would not budge from being the perfect gentleman.

That morning when his fingers had thrust hard and fast into her, flooding her with so much pleasure, was now just a lingering fading memory. Nikki was left to wonder if she had imagined the practically instant connection between them, though every now and then she caught a whisper of that connection again as he looked at her for just a moment too long. Then she could see the gleam of desire dancing within his depths; it was the spark of deep yearning that kept her hope alive.

Nikki had taken to wandering around the cabin wearing his bathrobe, even after her clothes had been laundered. She hoped the sight of her caramel skin would bring him back to her.

Kade had told her everything from his past, even about the darker memories from his time in the military that he had shared with no one. His heart was on his sleeve and his scars were clear in the harsh reality of day. The nightmares from his service had tortured him every night since he had been discharged, but with her in his arms, his nights were as peaceful they could ever be.

However, every day he faced a new torture. The torment that came with sharing his home with Nikki now plagued his every waking moment. He had been delighted that she had chosen to stay, even with his offer to take her back to civilisation.
