What do coyote personalities have to do with humans?

Chris had a good reason for collecting data from that coyote in the baseball field. He cares a lot about the animals he works with because they have a bad reputation (like bats!). Coyotes are an apex predator, meaning they are at the top of their food chain—no other animals eat them. As the top predator, coyotes help to keep entire ecosystems healthy by controlling the populations of other species like rabbits, small deer, and rodents. But many city residents don’t like having coyotes around. Though coyotes often avoid humans, sometimes they wander too close to people’s homes in search of food. They may even eat small pets that are left outside unattended. Chris wants to find out whether some coyotes have developed these bolder behaviors as a result of living alongside humans, or if this is just part of the natural differences in animal personality.
