Chapter 10

-Let’s start over-

As Obrien kept on driving towards Kerry’s house, he couldn’t help but imagine the kind of filth that Cattie must have fed her with.

The last time something like this took place Obrien wanted to get a restraining order, but being the good father he was, he decided to look the other way since it would look bad on the mother of his child.

But now from the look of things, Cattie had taken advantage of his kindness and wanted to play foul with him.

Obrien decided that he was going to deal with her accordingly, but all this should come after he was able to make things right with his girlfriend, Kerry.

Kerry’s home wasn’t that far from Tony’s and so Obrien had to cut his thoughts short as he approached the gate. It was about half past seven at night and he could see the lights on in the living room.

This was the hardest moment of his life and Obrien didn’t really know what the heck he was going to do. Obrien always found it hard to express himself, especially if he was taking the fall for another person since he didn’t even know what Cattie had poisoned Kerry with.

But he knew that if he wasn’t going to fight for the girl he did love, then Cattie was going to win.

So he opened the door and closed it in a gaseous thump. Obrien took a deep breath and opened the gate. While taking steps towards the door, Obrien tried to look for better ways in which he was going to make things right with her but still he couldn’t find the right words to use.

Finally, Obrien decided to just get in and ask her what the heck was going on. Because quite frankly, he had no idea of what the hell was happening. He straightened his coat and pressed the doorbell then waited.

After waiting a little longer, the door opened and Obrien saw Kerry’s mom looking at him with a cocked eyebrow from her wheelchair. From the scowl on her face, Obrien knew that the damage had already been done.

But he also knew that he wasn’t going anywhere until he fixed everything with Kerry and her mother as well.

“Can I come in?”

“No you can’t. I’d like you to stand where you are and explain why you decided to take my daughter for a ride.”

“Can I at least explain?”

“I think I just offered you that chance. So don’t make me take it back and shut this door for you.”

“I have an ex-wife and a child. I was intending on making an introduction to my son once I made things official with your daughter. But my ex-wife found out about this and came to sabotage everything.

I don’t know what she said to Kerry but I just hope she could see through all the bullshit and forgive me. Because she is the reason I wake up every morning with a smile on my face. Kindly tell her that.”

And with that, Obrien walked away from the door feeling his heart shattering into a thousand pieces.
