“Oh, you, too. And a happy New Year.”

“I hope so.”

Michael resisted the urge to grab Tre’s hand and drag him out. At the door, George clapped his hand on Michael’s shoulder. “If you two end up drinking, don’t get on the road.

Get a room at the hotel. Too many crazies out on the holidays.”

“Sure, Dad.”

With a smile and a wave, he and Tre headed out to his car.

“I hope that you don’t mind I didn’t get a suite like we usually do,” Tre said, once he was buckled in the passenger seat.

“You forget I never got suites at all before I met you.” He smiled as he backed out of the driveway. “Where am I going?”

“The Marriott by the airport.”

Memories warmed Michael through, images of Tre and the first amazing weekend they had spent together at that very hotel. “Now I wonder why I bothered sneaking the overnight bag out to the car. That place is pretty much guaranteed to make me want us both naked until you have to leave.”

“Well, you should still be prepared in case something unexpected happens, and we want to venture out to get food.”

“You mean you’ll let us go out in public together this time?” It was a total tease. The weekend they had met, Miami had been out for Tre’s blood. Hiding out for the championship had been unavoidable.

“Do you want to?” Tre asked with more solemnity than Michael’s jest called for.
