Reflect on what you learned during the informational interview. Did you learn anything unexpected? Be sure to repeat this step with subsequent interviews.
As you consider your online search, remember opportunities may be posted/categorized in the following manner:

Finding and Applying to Jobs
If you are interested in summer internships available to high school students, you can apply as early as the fall beforehand at places such as NASA, museums, and hospitals. You can also look online at interships.com and indeed.com. Donât forget to check local newspapers, and you might not realize it, but your local police station might offer internships for those interested in criminal justice or law enforcement.
Apply to as many available opportunities as possible. I know others, along with myself, who have applied to at least fifty jobs before receiving a response from one. Also consider what works best for your schedule. What positions are available within your timeframe? It may be you have limited time during the school year, so focus on summer internships. It is critical not to sacrifice your grades for these early job opportunities.
In some cases, you will need access to a computer to research opportunities and apply, but many sites are becoming mobile friendly. Many companies require you to complete an online applicationâeven if you visit in person.
Applications vary in length, and depending on the type of program, some have application fees (for example, some college immersion programs). Please do not be discouraged if fees are a deal breaker; many opportunities have no fees, so keep searching. However, there may be other costs associated with getting an internship or even volunteering, such as buying appropriate attire, traveling, and purchasing meals. Some programs may subsidize these expenses for those who need it.
Some disciplines have more unpaid internships than others. For example, you will often see unpaid programs in the arts, theater, or fashionâin contrast to similar opportunities in information technology or the sciences, which often offer a monetary incentive.
Applications for high school students for internships/mentorships might be traditional: filling out an online form, sending in a resume and cover letter, or writing an essay. Or non-traditional methods may be used, such as submitting a proposal or completing exercises as part of a team. The college or trade school you are interested in might have internship/mentorship programs that give you exposure to opportunities or even offer classes you need to take that you havenât thought about.
Entrepreneurship
There are numerous opportunities to expose yourself to entrepreneurship. You can get an idea of how to build a successful business by formulating and developing an idea and then creating a business plan and obtaining financing for it.
The US Small Business Administration (SBA), for example, has resources on their website that introduce young entrepreneurs to small business ownership as a viable career choice.
You can also consider youth entrepreneurship labs and programs. There are youth entrepreneurship labs designed to expose you to important factors involved in building a successful business. Programs might
